PARIAN Boy with Egg
$30 |
- This whimsical parian ware piece came to us via a purchase about ten years ago from a reputable antique store we used to frequent in Pennsylvania. Parian ware items, consisting of fine-grained, hard paste, bisque-like porcelain, are named for the white Grecian marble they resemble. This figural of a boy toting a barrel in the shape of an egg is a popular Victorian Era motif ... intended use could have possibly been as a match-stick holder since it would then look like the boy was resting from toting his daily load of firewood. Expertly detailed and in beautiful condition, this lovely porcelain would be a wonderful addition to any parian ware or egg collector's collection ... a great addition to one's Easter display as well!
